Off they go! The 53e Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett has started.  At 22:39 hr. the Belgica II took off at Geneva for a flight to the south…as far as possible, we hope. GO… BEL1…GO!

Inflation has started

The filling of the balloons has started, the two netted balloons “Pirat” (USA2) and “Golden Eyes” (FRA1) are the first to “rise and shine”. The amount of people on the launch field has been reduced seriously, so the teams are helping each other now. Also in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium) a gas balloon is getting ready... Read more ....

 

It looks like we will fly tonight

One major problem: Italy and Sardinia forbidden for VFR by night, so our team has to avoid these countries after sunset… lots of work for our meteoman Michel, different “strategies” are still open. Weather is OK in Geneva and take-off will be tonight. The team will start to prepare the balloon soon. Next briefing at 14:30 Hr.

The General Briefing has just finished, next briefing tomorrow morning at 10:00 Hr on the launchfield. As we all know by now… Ronny and Luc will take off as third.
